What is the keto diet?
Essentially, the keto diet is a low carb diet. The keto diet is a very effective form of weight loss. The keto diet is effective for weight loss both in the short term as well as in the long term.
The basic layout of the ketogenic diet is high fat, adequate protein, and low in carbs. For an individual on a two thousand calorie diet trying to maintain a keto diet, it is recommended that they eat one hundred and sixty-five grams of fat, seventy-five grams of protein, and forty grams of carbohydrates. When doing this diet, the body is forced to burn fats rather than carbs.
Having a high amount of fat is an essential part of the keto diet. High fat is important however it has to be done in a healthy way. Having an excess amount of saturated fat can increase cholesterol and increase other health risks. On the other hand, monosaturated and polyunsaturated fats decrease cholesterol and increase health benefits.
An adequate amount of protein is an important part of the keto diet. Having too much or too little protein both cause undesirable health impacts.
Maintaining low on carbs is a pivotal aspect of the keto diet, and is arguably the most important part of the keto diet.
Initially, the keto diet can cause sickness, which is generally known as the keto flu. This keto flu can last from a couple of days to an entire month. While the body is settling into a state of ketosis, it can often make it difficult for individuals to stick with this diet, however, those who have been doing the keto diet for months state that they feel even better than before they started the diet.
A sign of the keto diet is a low blood sugar level and a high ketone level. Ketones are the body’s water-soluble molecules that are produced by the liver. Ketones are produced in high amounts when carbs are restricted.
Ketones on a regular diet are rarer as the body has enough glucose to produce energy. However on the keto diet, ketones are produced as a type of substitute, and these ketones are sent into the bloodstream.
Many reports have proven that the keto diet is an effective way to lose weight. Banning carb-rich food causes the body to be in deprivation of glucose, however, this banishment makes losing weight occur quickly. In addition, many who succeed with this diet are able to keep the weight they lost off, which is uncommon for many diets.
The desired goal of this diet is to cause your body to be in a state of ketosis, which makes the type of food you eat the determining factor of whether or not you succeed on the keto diet.
Originally, the keto diet started off as a diet for individuals with epilepsy. Doctors in the 1920s realized that the ketogenic diet mimicked fasting, and forced the body to use fat as the primary fuel source, instead of using glucose. However, it is now a common diet used for those who want to lose weight and is no longer commonly used to treat seizures.
How is Thai curry keto friendly?

Within Thai curry, there are nine grams of fat. This is not an overabundance amount of fat, however, it will contribute to your daily goal of one hundred and sixty-five grams of fat.
Thai curry contains twenty-seven grams of protein. This is a great source of protein that will help you to reach seventy-five grams in no time!
There are twenty-four grams of protein within Thai curry. Although this is about half of your forty-gram limit, it will not stop ketosis.
With these nutrient facts, you can feel great about eating Thai curry. Along with being a great option for the keto diet, it provides many nutritious benefits.
Why Thai curry won’t stop ketosis
Within a regular diet, the body heavily relies on glucose for energy. This is due to glucose being the easiest molecule for your body to convert into energy. When glucose is being used as the body’s main energy source, fats are being stored. Fats are very easy for the body to store. However, when the body is not receiving as many carbs, as usual, the body is forced to use these stored fats as energy.
Ketosis is the metabolic state the body is in when it is receiving very little carbs. Ketosis is when the body is relying on fat for its fuel, rather than on carbs. Entering the ketosis state can take about a week.
Although there are many benefits to the keto diet such as weight loss, the process of getting into a state of ketosis has many drawbacks. Getting into this state may cause a person to experience fatigue, weakness, problems with digestion, and insomnia.
These drawbacks that come along with ketosis make it extremely difficult for some individuals to maintain a ketogenic diet, however, these difficulties will only remain for a short time. As time with the keto diet increases, these negative side effects decrease.
More often than not, these disadvantages to the keto diet turn into the advantages that come along with the keto diet. For example, it has been reported that even though insomnia may be experienced within the first couple of weeks, after fully transitioning into ketosis, many sleep better than they ever had before the diet.
To accurately assess whether your body is actually in ketosis, use a blood testing meter. When your body is in ketosis, there will be a large number of ketones in your blood. Your ketone blood level will be at least 0.5 mmol/L if your body is in ketosis.
