Alright, so the reason you're probably watching this video is because you're wondering the difference between a
0:06
Salad fork and a dinner fork and you're probably either going to a fancy event or you're trying to host an event and you want
0:13
To have the right etiquette. So we're gonna do this really fast so you don't get super embarrassed. Just kidding
0:19
Alright, so this is a salad fork and this is a dinner fork. Notice the size difference
0:24
the salad fork is obviously smaller and They actually look about the same as far as like the width of the tines and like the width of
0:36
Handles Handles, this one's just shorter now with the inception of these two forks
0:43
They were actually done like this for a reason But now there's not too much of a difference
0:50
The reason why you might want a smaller fork for a salad is because it's smaller and salad isn't that hard to stab
0:57
As opposed to a dinner fork where you might be having some sort of meat you might be having some potatoes
1:02
And so you got that extra So like cut your steak, yeah, so I'm assuming that's the reason why well
1:11
I'm originally in some of the research we did we found out that there are some very fancy
1:16
Salad forks that actually have a larger tine on one of the sides with a good cutting edge
1:22
And I think that's to help cut the lettuce and to do that sort of thing without having to use a knife
1:27
But a lot of salad forks today like you can see here They're just smaller forks and so we called it the illusion of sophistication
1:34
It just looks good to have a smaller fork. It looks good to have the two separate forks for the different courses
1:40
But generally speaking if you're at a fancier dinner, and you're not sure what utensil to use when just work from the outside in
1:47
And that's typically how the forks will be set or any other utensil you use and so that's a good rule of thumb to use
