We are going to test all of these different containers and see which one can keep the hot
0:06
chocolate warm. So what we did is we boiled a bunch of water in those stock pots behind me
0:15
and we poured it all in here and we read the temperature which was 173 degrees Fahrenheit
0:22
Now from here where we mixed all the hot chocolate together we poured them into all of these
0:28
different containers and so we have of course the igloo cooler, we have a carafe with a pump
0:35
we have a regular carafe with a spout, we have this Stanley thermos, a hydro flask water bottle
0:43
this off-brand from Amazon called Iron Flask, and this igloo water bottle. They're all insulated by
0:50
the way. So what we're going to do since all of these have the same temperature hot chocolate is
0:56
we're actually going to put them outside overnight for multiple hours and come back here in the
1:04
morning. Right now what time is it? It's like 6 40 in the evening and so we're going to come back here
1:12
early in the morning and test the temperatures of each of these containers and the hot chocolate
1:18
inside of course and figure out like which one kept the hot chocolate the warmest. Did any of
1:25
them keep hot chocolate the warmest? Right now it's fall here and so it's still 70 degrees in the
1:32
daytime and it's getting down to like 40 ish in the nighttime so it's not extremely cold but if
1:38
it's out for 12 plus hours it might get cooler. So we're going to take all these outside in my front
1:47
yard, put them on a table, and just let them set and we will see you back here in the morning
1:53
All right so it is the next morning. It is almost 8 30 a.m here and we're going to check all of these
2:00
different containers to see which one kept the hot chocolate the warmest, if any of them. Actually I
2:06
have a little teaser. I checked them this morning around 6 40 and they did pretty well. Some did
2:13
better than others but now that they've been out just a couple hours longer we're going to check
2:19
them. It got down to like 46 degrees overnight here in Boise Idaho so that gives you a little
2:25
bit of a reference. So we have our thermometers here. Okay so now we brought all of the containers inside and we lined them up from hottest to
3:00
coldest and this carafe with the pump won with the hottest. It was at 135. Then this carafe without
3:10
the pump was second. The Stanley Thermos got three which was pretty cool so maybe they live up to
3:17
their name. Surprisingly this iron flask which I've been talking about is just a random brand on
3:23
Amazon was four above the igloo cooler and then the hydro flask water bottle and then the worst I
3:31
guess or the coolest was this igloo water bottle and these are all insulated so that tells you
3:38
Now this wasn't perfect because there were somewhat of different amounts in these and so
3:44
we're just we're doing the best we can with this experiment but it gives you a really good idea. So
3:48
I'm gonna try a few different ones here and see how hot they are if they're hot enough and if they
3:56
live up to their name. So we'll try this one the hottest
4:02
That should be good. By the way Boise State that's where I graduated from
4:07
Okay it's not bad. It's not like super hot. It's not gonna scorch my mouth hot but it'll get the job
4:18
done. It'll keep you warm but not as hot as you would like it to be but obviously these have been
4:24
out for like 14 hours now so hey I'll take it. Pretty good. Let's try this iron flask
4:33
I would say this one is this one is lukewarm. Slightly warm but not hot not cold. It's okay
4:42
And let's try the coolest one out of them all which was 81 degrees and by the way the iron flask
4:52
the iron flask again was at 107. Oh wow this is this is cold now. It's not warm. It's just definitely room temperature even cold
5:05
actually. These would be your best bet if you can get away with these. Obviously that's not
5:11
always going to work because you might have to get multiple to have enough for many people
5:15
This obviously would be better for more hot chocolate. Of course it might stay much warmer
5:21
if it's only out for two or three hours so just something to take into consideration. So this one
5:27
I got on Amazon for just under $40 and we will put the link in the description below for you
5:34
I had really good reviews and I'd say it's pretty good. This one here I got it on Amazon as well
5:41
for just under $30 and these are actually the same brand. Both of these we will put in the
5:47
description below for you if you're interested in those. All these other water bottles I already had
5:53
This one I got on Amazon a long time ago. We really enjoyed doing this experiment so we could
5:59
hopefully help you out a little bit and we also have an entire article about how to keep hot
6:05
chocolate warm on our website cookforfolks.com so check that out below. But in the meantime
6:12
we'll see you next time
